1971 Porsche 911T Targa - 55,000 mi - Exceptional Body and Paint - All Original Parts - Disassembled after 2018 flood

I started looking for an Early 911 around 2008 as I planned my “retirement” here in the ‘Burgh. Then in Sept of ‘09 this ad (along with the first four pictures below) showed up on Craigslist Cleveland, I don’t know why it is, but I have found most of my cars in NE Ohio.

“Project car “s” instruments, 5 speed, original mag wheels, rockers need replacing, never driven in winter, there is some rust, Bought in ‘74, original owner put on fiberglass front spoiler, 47,000 original miles, original engine, Not driven in 21 yrs. missing paperwork and tools”.

It was just what I was looking for, an original (low miles) 911, a Targa, and Orange, was definitely a bonus… So I went to Cleveland, bought it off Jim Chiara, and put it back on the road in no time. a good tune, new brakes, Fuchs wheels, Corbeau seats, Hi Power Audio w/ SubWoofer, Rennshift Shifter, Wooden steering wheel and shift knob, and I was Cruzin’…

It didn’t take long for the “rusty rockers” to bug me so over a winter I decided to replace the rockers and doors, stripped the paint to send it off to Cleveland to Bill Kemper at PANELWERKS to do the body work and paint in June of 2011 in time to show it at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix that year…

Bill Kemper at Panelwerks in Cleveland did the body and paint in time to show it off at the PVGP that year. He did a bang-up job and was very timely on the delivery, allowing me one week to put the car back together to show it… Thanks Bill, these are his pics…

When it came back from Panelwerks I had 6 days to put it together to take to the PVGP… Later I added the 911 striping kit Euro headlights and cookie cutters…

And then the unthinkable happened in the Bridgeville flood of 2018… I had four cars go under water over their dashboards…

After the flood I took it all apart and there it sits with all its original parts and the aftermarket parts I bought for it, waiting to be built by someone else… I’m not doing it again…
